OPP was formed by dehydrogenation of the dimer in high yields with a Pt-KOH-γ-Al2O3 catalyst at 350°C. The life of the catalyst was examined, and the selectivity for OPP was found to be -95% with 100% dimer conversion even after a period of more than 800 hours. A route for the formation of reaction products in the dehydrogenation of the dimer has been proposed.
